Congratulations Liam!
Back in May, Liam Lynch, chaplain at St Joan of Arc Catholic School and trustee of City of Joy Aid, UK ran the Edinburgh Marathon in aid of Udayan. He ran the marathon in a fantastic 03:46:40 raising £562 for the home, school and medical centre in Kolkata. Liam has visited Udayan on four occasions with groups of students from St Joan of Arc Catholic School who have supported Udayan since 2004.
Thank you to all those who donated and helped Liam raise £562 – the funds raised help to keep the doors open and rice on the table for the children of leprosy sufferers. The stigma of leprosy is such that leprosy sufferers will be driven from their homes to lives of deep and utter poverty on the streets or in leper colonies, their children will be deprived of an education, nutritious food and health care which we all take for granted. Udayan provides that home for 300 boys and girls where those basic needs are met and when the time comes to leave Udayan they will leave with a vocational skill so that they can be self sufficient truly breaking the intergenerational cycle of leprosy once and for all.
Well done Liam on your marathon time and thanks for running it for Udayan!
