Peter Sweeney sets off on his 600 km challenge
At 9am this morning, Peter Sweeney, the headteacher of St Joan of Arc Catholic School Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, set off on a 600 km challenge to visit the five cathedrals within the Ecclesiastical Province of Westminster in 24 hours – Le Tour de Province of Westminster. This fundraising initiative being taken on by Peter will be raising funds for the school’s whole school charity – Udayan, a home, school and medical centre for children affected by leprosy in Kolkata, India.
Heading off from the school in Rickmansworth, Peter visited St John’s Catholic Primary School, Mill End before setting off for Northampton and the Cathedral Church of Our Lady Immaculate and St Thomas of Canterbury. He will then head to Nottingham, Norwich, Brentwood and Westminster before returning to the school tomorrow between 2pm and 4pm during the school’s summer fayre – ‘Party in the Arc’.
Additional activities have also been arranged at the school to support Peter in his challenge.
Live tracking of Peter’s progress is now underway and we wish him every success in this challenge.
